Our long and proud history of serving the energy sector in New Zealand has allowed us to develop efficient project management, GIS and seismic surveying services.

SERVICES FOR THE ENERGY INDUSTRY

BTW has a long and proud history of serving the energy sector in New Zealand. We have been involved in offshore and onshore petroleum exploration and production activities, including end uses such as electricity generation, and more recently have been working with renewable energy sources such as wind and hydro-electricity.

Seismic Surveying

BTW has been involved in seismic survey work in New Zealand since the late 1970s. We offer a range of services, as listed below, including project management. Our seismic systems have been developed over 30 years of specialising in this work, with our greatest strength being the ability to identify and utilise the latest technologies.

In response to client needs for efficient project management and reporting, we have developed an in-house GIS management system for management of seismic surveying projects.

Our seismic survey services are integrated across the Company, and include;

  • Project Management

  • Mapping

  • Development & maintenance of landowner databases

  • Permitting and land access negotiation

  • Resource Consenting

  • Public relations management

  • Set out and survey of seismic lines

  • Restoration

  • Web enabled GIS mapping and project management

Wellsite Development

BTW's multi-disciplinary team of land access specialists, planners and engineers specialise in taking a project from the concept phase through to completion. Our skills have developed in response to the needs of our clients. We have managed the land access, consenting, design and construction of over 70 wellsites and have been involved in the construction and consenting of production stations and other related facilities.

Our wellsite development services include;

  • Site selection, feasibility and costing

  • Land Access (e.g. Crown Minerals Act) negotiation and landowner consultation

  • Topographical survey and engineering design of wellsites & associated access tracks

  • Resource consenting, assessments of environmental effects, cultural impact assessments and community consultation

  • Applications for archaeological authority

  • Preparation of schedules of quantities, specifications & tender documentation for site construction

  • Management of the tender process on behalf of our clients

  • Management & supervision of site construction

  • Co-ordinate and supervise conductor installation

  • Full site set out and surveying

  • Organise communications to site, flare lines, skimmer pipes and cellar installation

  • Environmental monitoring & preparation of spill response plans

  • Preparation of environmental management plans and archaeological management plans

  • Management of public relations with landowners and neighbouring parties

  • Iwi/hapu consultation and relationships

Wellsite Maintenance and Land Management

BTW offer continuing service after initial drilling, and have in-house systems for ongoing management of wellsite and production site maintenance.

Our wellsite maintenance and land management services include;

  • Site maintenance - e.g. Fencing, spraying, drain clearing and track maintenance

  • Skimmer pit and flare pit maintenance

  • On-going management of resource consents, leases, public relations and site monitoring and reporting

  • Environmental audit

  • Spill contingency planning

In response to the needs of our clients, we have developed a number of in-house databases and a GIS system which can be tailored to meet the needs of specific clients. Our GIS system can be made available over the web, enabling our clients to track their consent requirements and land management projects in real time, where ever in the world they may be.

Drilling Cuttings & Fluids Disposal

BTW manage a number of 'land farming' sites for drilling mud & cuttings disposal throughout Taranaki.

Proposals & cost estimates for mud disposal at our general sites are prepared on a well by well basis, for various operators.

BTW also investigate and acquire land access and consents for new land farming sites to suit new exploration drilling locations.

Pipelines

BTW offer the full range of mapping land access, surveying and consenting services associated with pipeline installation. Our field staff have an 'eye' for pipeline route selection. Our GIS is a valuable tool in managing pipeline projects, and can be tailored to any pipeline job.

Our pipeline services include;

  • Route selection and mapping

  • Feasibility studies and cost estimates

  • Land access (easement agreements and compensation negotiation)

  • Topographical surveys

  • Centre line surveys & detail surveys where required (e.g. for stream crossings or work in road reserves)

  • Preparation of alignment drawings

  • Easement/legal surveys

  • Resource consenting and other council permits (e.g. licenses to occupy road reserves, access to public land)

  • Project management services, including web enabled GIS

  • Environmental monitoring

  • Silt/sediment control - advice, installation and monitoring

  • Spill contingency plans

  • Public relations

Our ability to integrate surveying with our GIS capability means we are able to provide all as-built pipeline information as GIS shape files for on-going pipeline management purposes.
